My 1990 Ford Taurus GL seen here in rare Woodrose Metallic paint. Ford only offered this color one year on the Taurus.
The car was bought used from a northern Michigan Ford dealer in late 1990, previously a local high school driver's ed. department vehicle.

This is the car that pulled Ford Motor Company out of the car sales slump,The Ford Taurus. The design first came about on the Ford drawing board in 1979 as a new car project called Sigma. After a couple of years of passing the sketches around the office, in 1985 they came up with the Taurus design. A car that was the first to have features such as flush door handles & side window glass. The Taurus also captured the "aero" look Ford took from the mid 80's T-Bird and Mustang.

The Ford Taurus is a very strong car. Mine has been backed into, hit from the side on the rear bumper and rear ended twice at almost 40 m.p.h., totaling the other cars! The glasspack that I put on the car before is replaced by a Dynomax single exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler. It puts out a throaty Mustang GT-like sound. Updated pictures are coming soon!

This is my 80 watt, 2 channel Jensen amplifier that powers the two 6x9's in the rear deck. So far i'm really happy with it's performance teamed up with the Blaupunkt CD player. The 6x9's hit really hard!

Another rarity on the Ford Taurus was the black cloth interior, usually only offered with white exterior paint, let alone with the rare Woodrose Metallic.

The Taurus is a very steathy car. It doesn't attract alot of attention from local law enforcement. I always like seeing people's reaction when I pull up, give it gas and it roars,"Hey, that's a Taurus!?"

The 3.0 engine was optional in the'90 Taurus GL. Seen here is the 11 year old 3.0 sitting at rest in it's relatively clean engine bay. Still going strong at over 150,000 miles.

Performance Modifications:

* Dynomax single exhaust with Magnaflow muffler.
* Removed Air Intake Silencer (Silencer restricts airflow into the engine, robbing horsepower)
* Air Conditioning and Radiator Fan computer by-pass (no more computers to screw with)
* R-12 to 134-A air conditioning retrofit

Audio Modifications:

*Blaupunkt RPD-545 180 watt CD player.
*Jensen 2-way 6-1/2" speakers in front doors.
*Jensen Tweeters in dash.
*Kenwood 6x9" Subwoofers in rear deck.
*Jensen Amplifier that powers the 6x9's

*The 6x9's use the trunk as an enclosure.I had the stereo guys at Ultimate Electronics listen to them, they said they produce the same amount of bass as two 10" subwoofers!

The Blaupunkt RPD-545 CD player. This unit sounds great, 180 watts of peak power. It gives the 6x9's in the back plenty of power and delivers great highs to the front mids and tweeters.

Soon to come:

*Sony Xplode 6-1/2" speakers for the front doors.
*Another Jensen 80 watt amplifier to power the front speakers.
